Sustainability and Environmental Education (SEEd)

Programmes and Communications Officer

I am currently the Programmes and Communications Officer at SEEd – an environmental education charity leading the charge in transformative sustainability education, and empowering individuals of all ages to build the skills needed to make change for a better, more sustainable future for all.

Our work focuses on supporting and empowering individuals to make lasting, effective change through facilitation, action learning, futures thinking and other methodologies. Through our programmes, including SEEd Young Changemakers (for young people and schools), we develop the competences and key life skills people in the UK and across the world need to effect change, creating active agents of change for a more sustainable future.

My role as Programmes and Communications Officer leaves me with two main workflows: 1) leading and managing all digital marketing for the organisation, from email and content marketing through to social media, web and beyond, and 2) supporting the running and development of our key programmes, from Young Changemakers to our Attitudes to Sustainability citizen science project and our Educator Changemakers CPD course and webinars.

Through the marketing and communication avenue, I have written and edited blog posts and think pieces, crafted email and social media campaigns promoting our work and sharing stories of our alumni, created videos to share our work and stories, and undertaken an overhaul of the SEEd website. This last piece of work saw our SEO increase from 16% to 80%, and achieve a click-through rate of 142%, alongside other key metrics.

The programme-based work involves evaluating survey responses from our participants to refine the content for future courses, contacting participants and fielding enquiries and supporting the day-to-day running of the programmes.

I find it empowering myself to be supporting an organisation dedicated to supporting the next generation to take action for sustainability and our climate.
