What a crazy ride 2025 has been! As the new year kicks in and 2026 comes onto the horizon, I’ve been looking back over the past year to explore my biggest achievements and highlight areas to focus on in the coming months. From my Master’s graduation to enrolling on a new course (more below!), my educational career has taken huge strides forward. But those aren’t the only milestones 2025 played host to, so here are some of my favourite moments of 2025!

A Master’s in Science Communication

Back in July, I had the great pleasure of celebrating achieving a Master’s of Science with Distinction in Science Communication at UWE Bristol with all the wonderful people I had the joy of studying alongside. Undertaking this Master’s kick-started my career in the field, and I couldn’t be more appreciative of all those who supported me through it – from my lecturers and peers to friends and family. Congratulations to everyone who graduated alongside me this year – it was an honour to work with you all!

It’s also exciting to share that I’m working on getting my thesis, Beyond Panic: Exploring Youth Perspectives on Eco-Anxiety and Podcast Interventions, published in a scientific journal. Thanks to my supervisor, Dr Margarida Sardo, and our own in-house reviewer, Clare Wilkinson, for your support in making this happen – fingers crossed for the peer-review process!

A Year at SEEd

Alongside completing my Master’s, this September saw my first year at SEEd come to a close, and the beginning of an exciting new chapter with the charity. Having started as SEEd’s Administrator in 2024, I’m excited to be the Programmes and Communications Officer – a role that has truly enabled me to develop my skills in marketing, programme development and action learning. At SEEd, we’ve launched a new programme – the Educator Changemakers CPD course – and brought our Young Changemakers Programme to even more young people across the world, empowering changemakers for a better, more sustainable future.

A Second Season of Paddling and Podcasting

Though the process was long, the result was worth it. Casey Spry and I completed a whole second season of The PaddlePod this year, with 8 new episodes on key marine and freshwater topics. The PaddlePod family kept on growing, with 16 new guests joining the show, and new listeners tuning in or supporting our work via our social media. I tried my hand at a Communications Strategy for the first time outside of SEEd here, and it was exciting to implement it across a whole year of work. Stay tuned for updates more updates soon!

Love & Science Grows Bigger and Better

Not only has The PaddlePod family grown this year, but so has BCFM Radio’s Love & Science. This year, the team welcomed two new presenters – Alix Harrington and Tanith Robbins – enabling me to step into a Producer role as well as Presenter. Thanks to this, we’ve developed the show into an exciting weekly science news extravaganza, with whole episode specials focusing on specific topics such as COP30, and regular shows diving into the latest science news from across the world. Thank you to all our guests in 2025, and all those who have supported the show!

Continuing My Educational Development

I’ve always been one for continuous development, and launching into 2026, I don’t mean to stop. Though I now hold a Master’s in a very exciting field, I wanted to further my understanding and skills in communications and marketing, so I am excited to have enrolled on the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Extended Certificate in Professional & Digital Marketing course. This 15-month course will see me exploring new areas of marketing, developing new skills and honing my current knowledge in the area. I’m excited to see where it takes me and my work in future!

So, as you can see, 2025 was a year of experiences, milestones and excitement, and I can’t wait to continue it all into 2026 – bring it on!
